Today in my Bible study homework, we read the following passage of scripture:
“...but now he has promised, ‘Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens. The words ‘once more’ indicate the removing of what can be shaken -- that is, created things -- so that what cannot be shaken may remain.” Hebrews 12:26-27 NIV
It struck me quite strongly that sometimes God “shakes our world” so that “what cannot be shaken may remain.” It is never pleasant when you go through a lifequake but with God as your refuge, you will not be shaken.
“My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.” Psalm 62:1-2
Some things may be shaken loose in my life. Some things may even be destroyed. But my foundation is secure and my faith will remain. I will not be shaken!
In the midst of the storm, I can look around and see Jesus lying there asleep on my ship. When the time is right, He will stand and say: “Peace, be still!”
